To Your Health - Going Above and Beyond

Updated: Jun 2

As NJ begins to reopen you may have questions.

As we prepare our Fox Theory Spa's reopening, it is the perfect time for us to refresh ourselves on infection control measures and safe work practices to best protect our staff and clients. We are already meeting many of these guidelines, but our Foxes will appreciate knowing their spa is clean, ready for service, and taking extra precautions. What’s more, our professional reputation, our license, and our clients' safety depend on it!

We understand your concern and are happy to answer all of them. Here are our most frequently asked questions about reopening:

  • How many people are allowed in the salon at once?

  • Do you use a clean cape/robe for each service?

  • What kind of training you and your staff have when it comes to infection control?

  • Do you require clients to wear a mask? Will you be wearing a mask? Will the salon be providing masks?

  • Do you clean and disinfect your workstation including your client chair, shampoo bowls, implements, tools and anything else that I may come in contact with?

  • What type of disinfectants do you use?

  • How do I pay for services? Can I pay digitally or do I need to use your credit card machine?

How many people are allowed in the salon at once?

We are, as we were before, a By Appointment Only spa. This means we are only seeing one client at a time. Prior to your arrival we clean, sanitize and sterilize our space, tools, and implements so you are welcomed into a freshly cleansed spa.

Do you use a clean cape/robe/bedding for each service?

Yes! Each client is provided with fresh and clean linens, robes, and towels.

What kind of training you and your staff have when it comes to infection control?

Every staff member at Fox Theory Spa takes a refresher course in Infection Control and its principles and practices. Additionally we have recently re-certified through the most trusted beauty education Milady Infection Control as well as gained a certification through Barbicide to receive our BARBICIDE®COVID-19 Certificate.

Fun fact: As a recognized American classic and the original symbol for professional beauty and barber disinfection, BARBICIDE® is even featured in the permanent collection of the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC.

Do you require clients to wear a mask? Will you be wearing a mask? Will the salon be providing masks?

Yes, for your protection and the protection of our clients and staff, we require our clients and staff to wear masks throughout services. You can view all of our updated policies here. Please bring your clean mask with you for your appointment. We will have masks for sale should you forget yours at home. See Image 1 for some great info.

Do you clean and disinfect your workstation including your spa bed, spa slippers, implements, tools and anything else that I may come in contact with?

Every single time, every service, after every client without fail, everything gets cleaned, washed, disinfected and sterilized.

What type of disinfectants do you use?

We use an EPA-registered disinfectant Barbicide which maintains efficacy in the presence of bioburden, the number of viable organisms in or on an object or surface or the organic material on the surface of an object before decontamination or sterilization. Barbicide is known worldwide as the ultimate product for EPA registered, hospital grade disinfection in salons, barber shops, and spas.

How do I pay for services? Can I pay digitally or do I need to use your credit card machine?

To maintain the social distance measure we do encourage contactless pay through your contactless chip. Look for the symbol as see in Image 2

Our industry is one of very strict guidelines with respect to infection control. Throughout our education we are taught over and over the ways of cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing our spas for the ultimate infection control standards.

This ongoing study of infection control is a foundational element that ensured the safety of both clients and technicians and is required by law. So we thought it would be a great idea to sharpen up our skills and learn a few new ones with respect to COVID-19.

Some of the topics we recite and commit to are

  • the understanding of state laws, rules and differences between them

  • knowing and being able to classify types of bacteria

  • being abled to explain and understand how hepatitis an dHIV are transmitted

  • knowing the difference between cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing

  • having an understanding of the different disinfectants and how they are used

  • know the Universal and Standard Precautions

  • know how to safely clean and disinfect the spa tools and implements

In Conclusion

Now that you know what we've been doing, let us know how you feel about these changes we've been making and if you have any additional questions or concerns.
